Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in delivering high-quality HVAC, plumbing, and piping solutions for commercial and industrial construction projects. As a key leader within our organization, the Mechanical Engineering Manager will oversee the design, planning, and execution of mechanical systems while driving innovation, efficiency, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
- Project Oversight:
- Oversee the design and engineering of HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to align engineering solutions with project goals.
- Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and submittals.
- Process Improvement:
- Develop and implement best practices, standards, and procedures for mechanical design and engineering.
- Drive efficiency and quality in the engineering workflow to support timely project delivery.
- Client & Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Serve as the technical point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
- Provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to meet project requirements and exceed client expectations.
- Budget & Resource Management:
- Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and staffing to support current and future project needs.
- Identify and implement tools and technologies to enhance the engineering team's capabilities.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure all designs meet local, state, and federal codes and regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid project delays or issues.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial and industrial construction projects.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Expertise in mechanical design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical codes, standards (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA), and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore) is a plus.
- Skills:
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical and innovative solutions.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field required; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- LEED Accreditation or other sustainability certifications are a plus.
